United Way's annual celebration of Day of Action is an invitation for people and organizations across the globe to take action to address a variety of community challenges.
This year, United Way of Northeast Florida is focusing on the issue of hunger, proper nutrition and the importance of comprehensive basic needs. More than 225,000 people are without reliable access to affordable, nutritious food in Northeast Florida. Moreover, more than 65,000 Northeast Florida children don't know where their next meal will come from. During summer months when school is out, children experience more food insecurity because they do not have access to free and reduced-price meals. Proper nutrition is critical to good health, well-being and reaching your full potential.
The morning of June 21, we will join forces with three community partners, Farm Share and Feeding Northeast Florida, our area's two largest food banks, and United Way of St. Johns County to address food insecurity in United Way of Northeast Florida's five-county region. We will host several "Nourishing Northeast Florida" community food distributions in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties simultaneously.
In order to help the most families possible on Day of Action, we need your help. Please sign up for a site and shift below to ensure we are able to distribute food to more than 1,000 local families.
Together, we will make a tremendous difference on Day of Action!
Special thanks to Bishop Johnson and Full Life Ministries, Open Arms Christian Fellowship, Celebration Church, American Legion Post 194, and the Baker County Fairgrounds for hosting these distributions at their locations!
