Description

Be a part of a transformative day of service Out East!

This MLK Day of Service, join the resident-led Historic Eastside CDC and Jax Melanin Market as they revitalize Jacksonville's important and storied Eastside! These organizations are pivotal forces in Jacksonville's historic neighborhood, playing a crucial role in enhancing the lives of its residents. United Way of Northeast Florida proudly partners with these organizations, recognizing their unwavering dedication to fostering economic mobility and equity for Eastside residents..

The Historic Eastside CDC (HECDC) is committed to preserving and transforming the neighborhood through comprehensive community development. Their multifaceted approach addresses key pillars such as affordable housing, social services, cultural development, wealth building, education, and safety. Thanks to another yet United Way of Northeast Florida partner working with the HECDC, LiftJax, two longstanding, but troubled Eastside apartment complexes, The Eastside Terrace and Eastside Gardens Apartments, will be renovated from their slum conditions to create safe, high-quality housing for the current apartment residents as well as others.

The HECDC needs volunteers to clean, beautify, and activate vacant and/or public spaces in and around these apartments. Your hands can make a difference, bringing hope and renewal to the residents. Sign up now and be part of the change our community deserves!
