At Travel Unity, the People Manager provides direction and oversight on all people-related tasks involving volunteer engagement, new talent, and career development.
The People Manager is generally responsible for creating an volunteer-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, volunteer retention and development, and high performance. The People Manager will be working closely with the Y&C Operations Manager, Senior Recruiter, and the Senior Training and Development Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Senior Y&C Operations Manager, Senior Recruiter, and Senior Training and Development Coordinator in maintaining high performance and productivity
- Enhancing volunteer-oriented company culture that emphasizes Travel Unity’s mission, vision, guiding principles, and values
- Work with Senior Recruiter and Training and Development Coordinator to recruit, interview, select, hire and employ an appropriate number of employees.
- Provide oversight and direction to the operating team following the organization’s procedures and policies.
- Oversee new employee onboarding and provide career development planning and opportunities
- Empower volunteers to take responsibility for their roles and take accountability by giving regular feedback for professional growth and development
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for ideas, expeditious conflict resolution, appreciation of diversity, cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each team member and department to succeed
- Ensure the overall health and wellness of the workforce are maintained
- Hiring, training, motivating and coaching employees as they provide attentive, efficient service to customers, assessing employee performance and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities.
- Resolving conflicts or complaints from volunteers and employees.
- Establishing and achieving business and profit objectives.
- Generating reports and presenting information to upper-level managers or other parties.
- Ensuring staff members follow Travel Unity’s policies and procedures.
- Other duties to ensure the overall health and success of the business.
