Jacksonville's families need socks!

Many Duval County families living at or below the ALICE threshold (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) struggle to afford essentials like new socks — one of the least donated but most requested items. Socks provide comfort, warmth, and protection year-round for both children and adults. You can help by collecting new socks for families served through our Full Service Schools network and our neighborhood community partners. Donations of new children’s underclothes are also welcome.

When collecting socks, please keep in mind:

  • All socks must be new and in original packaging
  • All types of socks are needed: Any color
  • Work, sport or dress socks
  • Winter and summer styles
  • Socks for men, women, children, and infants
  • Special socks for people with foot pain or diabetes

Volunteer hours available: Earn ½ hour (for travel) plus 1 hour for every 15 individual pairs of socks collected, capped at 10.5 hours per participant.

Please contact United Way of Northeast Florida here to arrange a drop off when you're ready or if you have any questions.

Please Note: Due to limited staff capacity, Volunteer and Community Engagement (VCE) staff may take up to 3 business days to respond. Please do not drop off items without prior coordination, as sites have variable hours.
