VITA Tax Training: Tax Site Greeter

All Volunteers Certification Course (Virtual) - You must have a laptop or computer, internet access, and Zoom installed on the device you will use for training.

As a volunteer, you’ll get all the specialized training you need, so there is no need to worry if you have limited knowledge of tax law. You can also choose a volunteer role that doesn’t require tax law certification
Greeter/Screener — The Greeter is the first point of contact for clients when they enter a VITA site. as a Greeter/Screener, you’ll greet everyone visiting the site. This role is perfect for those who have no interest in preparing tax returns but love socializing and talking to people. As the first point of contact, the Greeter should be customer service focused and able to interact with diverse groups. The Greeter must also be well versed in the variety of services that are available for clients through the VITA program in addition to the free tax assistance. You’ll screen taxpayers to determine the type of assistance they need and confirm they brought all the necessary documents to have their tax returns completed. Tax law certification is not required for this position.
