Meeting with a Tax Preparer is the primary reason most clients come into a VITA Site. Tax Preparer responsibilities include:
In order to provide the highest level of service to clients, Tax Preparers must become IRS-certified, either through a series of classroom training sessions, or on-line. Tax Preparers must pass the IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct and Tax Preparer Certification test at the Advanced level. In addition, volunteer Tax Preparers are asked to commit to serving a minimum of 40 hours during the January – April tax season.
