Description Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) provides income tax assistance to individuals and families in our community. No tax experience is necessary. We will train you! All volunteers, if not already certified, will gain certification through these training seminars. What Will I DO? Meeting with a Tax Preparer is the primary reason most clients come into a VITA Site. Tax Preparer responsibilities include:
In order to provide the highest level of service to clients, Tax Preparers must become IRS-certified, either through a series of classroom training sessions, or on-line. Tax Preparers must pass the IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct and Tax Preparer Certification test at the Advanced level. In addition, volunteer tax preparers are asked to commit to serving a minimum of 40 hours during the January – April tax season. Computer-based Training: After creating a profile on Get Connected, you can follow directions on the links below to complete the 2019 Link & Learn Taxes Certification Tests from the comfort of your own computer. * Tax Preparer: In order to provide the highest level of service to clients, Tax Preparers must become IRS-certified, either through a series of classroom training sessions, or on-line sessions.
