This MLK Day of Service, join United Way of Northeast Florida’s partners, Schell-Sweet Resource Center as they address food insecurity among struggling families in the New Town area.
It is estimated that 1 of 6 adults and 1 of 4 children in our community is hungry or facing food insecurity, which is simply not knowing when or how they will get their next meal. The largest growing population experiencing hunger or food insecurity is working families, “ordinary” people who work hard and live on an income that can’t stretch from paycheck to paycheck.
Volunteers will meet at the Ritz Theater and Museum for an energizing kick off and light breakfast and then head to New Town to help unload, sort, and hand food to 150 families in need.
