One in eight women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. However, despite having similar incidence rates to white women, African American women are 42 percent more likely to die from the disease. Unfortunately, the key causes of the high mortality rate for women of color are the late diagnosis, a lack of resources, and access to quality health care. During the coronavirus pandemic, the SisterHermana Foundation needs to focus on what we know to be true about breast cancer and that’s early detection saves lives.
Join us for a COVID-19 safe Taking it to the Streets (T.I.T.T.S) community canvass were we are going to leave breast cancer awareness information on the doorknobs of homes in zip code 32206 were African American women deaths by breast cancer is higher than the state itself.
Together in teams, we will walk:
Harrison Street
Evergreen Avenue
Van Buren Street
Walnut Street
Silver Street
Please represent your organization or group by wearing your T-shirt. All others please wear your breast cancer awareness t-shirts.
Gloves and masks will be provided.
