Who We Are

Founded in 2014, the SisterHermana Foundation, Inc. (SHF) is more than just an organization; we are a collective force of volunteers united by a shared purpose. Our mission is The SisterHermana Foundation has a dual mission: firstly, to raise awareness in high-risk communities about curable cancers when detected early, providing education on their signs, symptoms, and risk factors. Secondly, to offer financial or in-kind assistance to individuals undergoing treatments like chemotherapy or radiation with non-medical related expenses for everyday life.

Our core values of Empathy, Compassion, Stewardship, and Integrity aren't just words to us; they are the compass that guides our actions. These principles shape our mission and vision, influencing every interaction we have with the people we serve and the generous supporters who empower our cause.

What We Do

At the SisterHermana Foundation, we recognize that cancer impacts more than just medical bills. We aim to provide assistance tailored to the unique life situations of those diagnosed with cancer, addressing needs that go beyond healthcare expenses.

Our approach is individualized and heartfelt, as we understand that no two households face the same challenges. A remarkable 87% of our clients are parents with children under the age of 18, and their needs are diverse. While one family might require support with housing and utilities, another might be struggling to afford groceries or the fees associated with a child's high school graduation.

In every case, our commitment remains the same: to alleviate some of the burdens that accompany a cancer diagnosis and provide the kind of support that makes a real difference in the lives of our clients. Whether it's financial help or emotional encouragement, the SisterHermana Foundation is here, standing by those in need, every step of the way.

Taking it to the Streets for Life

SisterHermana stands as a fervent advocate for continuous cancer awareness. Each month, we strategically mobilize and deploy our dedicated volunteers into communities plagued by high rates of late-stage cancer diagnosis and mortality. Within these communities, our volunteers become messengers of hope, providing vital information about cancer, its recognizable signs and symptoms, and essential resources for screenings, even for those who might be uninsured.

What sets us apart from other cancer-serving organizations is our proactive, door-to-door approach to prevention. We're not just distributing information; we're reaching people where they live, fostering a direct connection that can make a life-saving difference.

But our commitment doesn't stop at the doorstep. The Foundation further amplifies its impact by organizing workshops, participating in health fairs, and frequently engaging the community through various tabling events. Our presence is constant, our message is clear, and our mission is unwavering: to combat cancer through awareness, education, and action, one door at a time.
