Who We Are
Timucuan Parks Foundation preserves, promotes and enhances Jacksonville’s natural areas through community engagement, education and enjoyment. Jacksonville's nature parks and preserves — its wilderness parks — offer a beautiful and extensive network of trails for walking, biking, kayaking, wildlife viewing, and nature therapy. Building and maintaining a strong volunteer program is an opportunity to not only complete much needed trail projects, but to also introduce these trails, both land and water, to a wider audience and to bring many diverse sectors of the community out into the parks who might otherwise never even know the Timucuan Preserve exists. Our goal is to grow a strong community culture of valuing our parks and preserves, and make them a part of our civic identity and a source of civic pride.
What We Do
Timucuan Parks Foundation (TPF) is the non-profit Friend’s group for Jacksonville’s “Timucuan Trail State and National Parks”. Jacksonville is home to the largest urban park system in the contiguous United States which includes extensive public lands managed by the National Park Service, Florida State Parks, and the City of Jacksonville (Preservation Parks). As the friend's group, TPF maintains a regular and robust volunteer program to support their three park partners throughout the year with regular park cleanups, trail maintenance, light construction projects, invasive plant removals, and more at the more than 23 local Timucuan Parks. TPF also trains and utilizes volunteers to help with park events and environmental education outreach with a goal of instilling a stewardship ethic, appreciation, and care for these outdoor spaces.
