Who We Are

For over a quarter of a century, our program has been a steadfast provider of public service within the Jacksonville community .Our goals are to provide temporary respite to caregivers, delay institutionalization of frail and health impaired homebound seniors into costly nursing home settings; and to recruit and train low to moderate income senior volunteers to provide program services and work with community agencies and faith-based organizations to connect caregivers and seniors to additional resources.

What We Do

The Independent Living Program offers no cost respite care for primary caregivers of homebound senior citizens. Volunteers, who are 55 years and older, provide companion/sitter services, granting caregivers a temporary respite. These volunteers typically visit their assigned client 2-3 times per week, for a few hours during each visit. Volunteers may receive a stipend for their period of service
