Volunteer: Client Intake and Food Pantry Worker

The client intake and food pantry involves dealing directly with clients, some computer work, physical assembly of food bags and unloading and putting away food.  DESC is located in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church so stairs will be involved.  The food pantry is open Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Monday - Thursday 2 p.m.  - 4 p.m.

The telephone would involve answering the calls, giving out information and compassionate listening. 

This position can be onsite or remote.

If onsite, we are located in a basement so climbing up and down stairs is required.  We do not have an elevator.

Purchasing items or hosting a drive and assembling hygiene kits is a critical way volunteers can address a real community need individually or as a group, family, school or neighborhood.  You or your team can host a drive, purchase supplies, and drop off the completed project to our location.  You may log your hours and we will verify one hour for every 10 kits collected.  

Items needed - Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Razors, Lotion, Shaving Cream, Soap, All size diapers (not adults) 

Optional - Washcloths, Wipes, Dental Floss, Mouthwash or other small hygiene items
