The Jacksonville National Cemetery Staff and its Support Committee are currently seeking school, military, veterans, church, corporate, civic outreach and other groups of volunteers to mark their calendars and assist in the tradition of placing flags at gravesites in preparation for the traditional Memorial Day Observance 2023.
Jacksonville is a leader by having the entire Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia community remember and honor the fallen military during Memorial Day. As you may already know that our Memorial Day initially began as Decoration Day. Each year on May 30th Americans would decorate the graves of Veterans with flowers.
This flag-placement program will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 3 pm EDT.
Please be advised that, where applicable, Community Service Verification-Validation forms will be executed and signed at the completion of this great outreach event.
For ease in driving to the National Cemetery, note that there is a new road going directly into the Cemetery via the recently opened Gold Star Family Parkway. This beautiful tree-lined parkway is accessed from the I-95 and the Pecan Park Exit.
