United Way is proud to partner with Destined for a Change, an organization dedicated to uplifting families and strengthening neighborhoods through hands-on outreach and community support. They understand how neighborhood blight can deeply affect residents — lowering property values, creating safety concerns, reducing quality of life, and eroding community pride.
For MLK Day of Service, Destined for a Change is leading a revitalization effort throughout the Phoenix area — including 8th & Florida Avenue, Pacetti to Franklin Street, Phoenix Avenue, 9th & 10th Streets, and Winthrop Street.
Volunteers are needed to help remove litter, trim overgrowth, sweep sidewalks, and clear debris to improve safety and restore curb appeal. Beautifying these streets isn’t just about appearance; it’s about creating a cleaner, safer environment that strengthens dignity, pride, and connection among neighbors.
