Frequently Asked Questions for Volunteers
How do I find volunteer opportunities?
- If you are interested in general volunteering, select the calendar icon from the side or top menu bar. You may also look for volunteer opportunities by clicking Needs in the menu.
- If you are interested in finding an opportunity with a certain organization, choose Agencies in the side menu and search my name.
- If you have a particular type of project in mind, you can filter the opportunities by age requirement, county, date, impact area or interest.

How do I respond to volunteer opportunities?
Congratulations! You have found a way to improve your community by working with one of our community partners.
- In order to register for the need, click "Respond" in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
- If you do not already have a volunteer profile on our site, you will be prompted to create one before registering for the need. If you already have a profile, you will click "Submit Response" near the bottom of the opportunity page.

How do I change my e-mail, password, or other profile information?
- Once logged in, select your profile picture in the top right corner. From the drop-down menu select "Edit Your Profile". Make any necessary edits remember to click the Update button!

How do I register my volunteer team?
- Select a need that accepts team sign-ups.
- Click the Respond as Team button (If button is not available, this is not a team opportunity).
- On the Team Information form that appears, enter a Team Name and a Team Description.
- Click Create Team.
- Click the Add Team Member button to add your first team member.
- Complete the fields provided, as applicable. These will include Email, First Name, and Last Name.
- From the Reserved Slots dropdown, select the number of team members you want to add.
- Click Submit Member.

How do I register as part of a User Group?
User groups are most commonly used for corporations and students groups (such as clubs or service-learning courses), but they can be used for any group of volunteers, including church groups, Scout troops, civic clubs, and more!
If you are interested in creating a User Group, please send your request to volunteer@uwnefl.org.
Can my children/family volunteer with me?
Yes! Volunteering as a family can transmit into a powerful bonding experience. Follow the following steps to locate family-friendly volunteer opportunities:
- From your Volunteer Dashboard click on the ‘Needs’ link on the left side of the screen
- Use the Filter drop down to select ‘Family Friendly’
- An additional filter will populate. From the drop down select ‘Is Family Friendly’
- Click ‘Search’ then all family friendly volunteer opportunities will populate.
- Select a volunteer opportunity
- Scroll down to Additional Details at the bottom of the volunteer opportunity.
How do I fulfill my court-ordered hours?
With the help of our Get Connected partners, there is a way to search and find court-ordered community service opportunities.
- From your Volunteer Dashboard click on the ‘Needs’ link on the left side of the screen. An additional filter will populate. From the drop down select ‘Court Mandated’ Select a volunteer opportunity. After you have completed your hours, the worksite or United Way will provide you with a letter validating your service as required for court.
- Scroll down to Additional Details at the bottom of the volunteer opportunity.
- Click ‘Search’ then all court mandated volunteer opportunities will populate.
- Use the Filter drop down to select ‘Interest’
NOTE: If you would like to volunteer with an agency not listed under the Court Mandated filter, call the agency to ask if they accept court-ordered volunteers.
How do I log and track my hours, including hours for needs that are not listed on the site?
- Log into Get Connected
- Click on your profile dropdown (located where the blue circle is in the image above) and select Track Hours
- Then click Add Hours, located under the Volunteer Hours heading
- Click No under the Hour Type heading to indicate that the hours are not related to a previous need response on your Connect site.
- Complete all applicable fields under the Individual Details, Hour Details, and Description
- Click Submit Hour Entry.

How do I Check into DIY Projects?
There is no checking in required for DIY Projects. Please log your hours through the track hours feature of your profile after registering for the event and completing your project or contact volunteer@uwnefl.org.

How do I use the App?
Once the Volunteer Get Connected App is downloaded from the App Store on your device, the app may be used to access:
- Your schedule of your upcoming and past volunteer shifts.
- Check in to each shift to make sure you are helping your favorite programs get the data they need to be successful.
- Add hours without checking in.
- Your dashboard is where you will be able to view the impact you are making in your community.
- The app will use your location and push notifications to alert you when you should check in to a response you've created. When you arrive on site, we'll tell you that it's time to start your clock, and we'll let you know to stop the clock when you leave.
What does it mean to be a Fan of an organization?
If you choose to become a fan of an organization on our site, you will be notified by email when a new need or event is posted by that group. Becoming a fan is a great way to stay up to date with all of your favorite agencies.
