Who We Are

Jewish Family & Community Services, Inc. (JFCS) has been a vital part of the Jacksonville Community since 1917, lending a helping hand to people from all walks of life. JFCS has changed the lives of thousands on the First Coast, from the young to the aged, the hurting, the lonely and the lost. Founded in 1917 by Rabbi Israel Kaplan, JFCS emerged as a strong voice for people in need of food and emergency shelter. As a charter member of United Way, our efforts, then and now, have focused on identifying and addressing the needs of those in the community whose vulnerabilities threaten their strengths and successes, and by extension, our community itself. As JFCS approaches nearly 100 years of service to Northeast Florida, the Agency remains true to its mission to "strengthen the entire community by providing family and individual social services in the Jewish tradition of helping people help themselves."

What We Do

Jewish Family & Community Services provides much-needed services to adults and children struggling to make ends meet. We provide Financial Assistance, Child Welfare services, Mental Health counseling, food, clothing and in school programs.
